Michael Brohawn, CFP®, CLU®, CAP®


Michael brings a unique perspective to the use of life insurance as one who has seen the world of life insurance from both sides of the table.  After a successful career working with advisors to develop life insurance strategies for high net worth clients, Michael, along with two partners started Insurance Trust Monitor (ITM) in 2007, the first full-service back office vendor for the trust-owned life insurance (TOLI) market.  Now called ITM TwentyFirst, it is the largest manager of in-force life insurance policies in the country.

Michael developed the prudent practices for TOLI policy purchase and management that gave the firm its niche and became, not only a guide but also an educator, to life insurance trustees and fiduciaries across the country.  Michael has provided thousands of hours of continuing education to his peers and spoken to groups as diverse as Top of the Table, The Fiduciary Risk Management Association (FIRMA) and the American Bankers Association (ABA).  He has been an educator for Cannon Financial Institute and a source for articles in industry publications as well as the Wall Street Journal.

Today, Michael works with policyholders and their advisors as an advocate for those who seek to obtain life insurance, as well as those who wish to maximize the value of their existing policies by utilizing the prudent processes he developed for trustees and fiduciaries nationwide – with his focus on one goal – maximizing the value of life insurance for the policy owners and beneficiaries.

The Wealth Advisors Guide to Life Insurance grew out of Michael’s desire to share not only his life insurance knowledge but his lessons learned after more than a decade working with trustees and fiduciaries nationwide.
